Lavender oil is a natural way to feel calm, cool, and collected. By either applying a bit of lavender oil directly to your temples before your MRI or by wearing a lavender infused eye mask during the procedure, you can start to feel more relaxed than ever.
Listen to Music
Whether you prefer classic, folk, rap, rock, country, blues, jazz, or anything else under the sun, if there’s one thing to say about music, it’s that it can bring you great joy. To help you stay relaxed, we can play your favorite music, or you can listen to headphones.
Take Deep Breaths
Before you enter the MRI, we will talk you through some relaxation techniques including practicing deep breathing exercises. Deep breathing is a natural way to slow down your heart rate and increase blood flow to your body— leaving you feeling calmer in the process. To take a deep breath, slowly inhale through your nose, hold it for a few seconds, and then slowly exhale through your mouth.
Bring Along Support
We encourage all of our patients to bring along a friend or family member to their MRI. Having the physical presence and support of a loved-one will help you feel like you can accomplish anything— including completing an MRI.
